West Nile virus is spread by mosquitoes that feed on infected birds, such as the woodpecker found in Laramie July 20, then bite people, animals or other birds.
The U.S. Bureau of Land Management, citing dry conditions and high fire danger, has placed partial fire restrictions on public lands it administers in Natrona, Converse, Platte and Goshen counties beginning today.
