More Connectivity For Collins Drive

Casper City Council  authorized 1.6 million in funds for the next step in downtown street enhancements Tuesday night.

Collins drive between Kimball and Durbin is the  focus for the next step in the City's long term plans for improved connectivity and walk-ability.  "It's to make pavement improvements and aesthetic enhancements- improving sidewalk connectivity and lighting similar to Second Street and West Yellowstone projects downtown."

New One Cent Projects Application Process Starts Soon

Requests for a piece of the Six million dollar pie designated for Community Projects out of the new optional one cent tax will need applying for by the end of February.

Traditionally those dollars go out to entities like the Library and CAT-C -that's the city bus- but also to many local nonprofits.

The application deadline got pushed back a month after Casper City Council members expressed concern with applicants having sufficient time to create comprehensive appeals.

Local Officials Bring Concerns To Breakfast

State Legislators from local districts along with their counterparts in city and county government had breakfast together Tuesday.  The time together let concerns be known as the next legislative session approaches.  At the top of City and County wish lists is predictable City  funding.

But, Bunky Loucks,  Representative-Elect for House District 59 says creating a more reliable funding model is difficult for both side.

" I mean the states revenues  fluctuate too, because we totally depend on  oil revenues and  that goes up and down.  I think everybody here is committed to trying to do whatever they can to stabilize the model for municipalities."
