Juneteenth, a celebration of freedom, goes all the way back to the 1800′s. The Emancipation Proclamation gave slaves freedom in 1863, but in Texas it was another 2 1/2 years before slaves were actually set free. As the slaves began a new way of life, June 19th was the day they chose to celebrate their new found freedom, thus beginning the Juneteeth Holiday...
On a 4-3 vote Casper City Council, Thursday agreed to bring to public hearing a change to city ordinance that would create restrictions on the open carry of weapons in city meetings.
The Casper Police Department is proposing a change to malt beverage permitting. City law enforcement would like to establish a code that provides an option to deny or revoke a malt beverage permit. The proposal came before city council this week.
