UPDATE: College Campus Will Reopen at 1PM; Suspicious Package Was Student Project
UPDATE: The evacuation order for Casper College has officially been lifted. Classes will resume at 1PM.
The suspicious package was found to have been a student project and not dangerous.
The Casper College campus has been closed for at least the rest of this morning because a suspicious package was found in the Student Union (UU) building.
Reports indicate the package, though it contained nails, was not explosive.
The college also issued an evacuation order for all those not involved in the situation response.
Students in the resident halls are ordered to stay in their dorm rooms. They are not being evacuated.
Natrona County High School and Kelly Walsh High School students who are students at the college are being taken to the YMCA at 15th and Beech streets. From there, the students will be taken to their high school campuses.
Students from Centennial Junior High School also are being taken to the YMCA.
Report additional suspicious devices in other campus buildings or suspicious activity by calling 911.
