CHEYENNE, Wyo. (AP) — Wyoming House Speaker Tom Lubnau is asking for a special committee to be empaneled to investigate state schools Superintendent Cindy Hill's administration of the state Education Department.

Lubnau wants the House Rules Committee to handle the probe. It could be a step toward possible impeachment proceedings against Hill, depending on its findings and recommendation.

Lubnau, a Gillette Republican, made the request Tuesday to Republican Senate President Tony Ross, of Cheyenne.

Ross says he plans to bring the matter soon to the Legislature's Management Council, which oversees legislative matters when lawmakers are not in session.

A governor-appointed inquiry reported information last week about possible misuse of federal money for unauthorized programs and trips in the state plane under Hill's administration.

Hill has denied misusing funds and the plane.
