Small Wildfires Breaking Out in Northwest Wyoming

JACKSON, Wyo. (AP) — Several small wildfires have broken out in northwest Wyoming over the past several days.

The biggest is the 1,500-acre Swede Fire burning in a remote wilderness area about 60 miles west of Cody. Firefighters are allowing the fire to burn without intervention.

Another remote fire being allowed to burn is the 50-acre Bang Creek Fire in the Gros Ventre (grow-VAHNT') Wilderness.

Small fires also have broken out in Snake River Canyon and on the boundary between Grand Teton National Park and the National Elk Refuge.

Forest officials rate the region's current wildfire risk level as moderate and haven't imposed any restrictions on campfires.
