A Casper man is accused of using a machete to take a swing at someone.

Thirty five year old Saul Mejia Vasquez has pleaded not guilty to two counts of aggravated assault.

Casper Police say in late June 2015, a bar-be-cue event was taking place at a residence on the 1000 block of South Wisconsin Avenue.

One witness said Vasquez arrived with a 22-inch machete in hand and when he saw the victim, he went after him with it.

The victim said Vasquez was trying to fight everyone and the victim grabbed the machete in an attempt to get it out of Vasquez's hands, and got injured as a result.

Vasquez's wife later told investigators that Vasquez had been drinking and accused her of being in a relationship with the victim.

Vasquez is awaiting trial on $200,000 bond and could face up to 10 years in prison on each charge, if convicted.
