About 7000 feet of power line will be replaced with underground cable in the Manor Heights area of Casper starting Monday. Rocky Mountain Power Spokesman, Jeff Hymas, says the project will take about a month to complete. The utility will replace line in locations between East 12th and East 20th Streets and between Bretton or 19th Ave. and Kelly Dr.

"The issue is just that these lines have been in place for quite some time now. They're aging and need to be replaced. The new lines, of course, will be better and they'll be able to insure that we don't have have as frequent outages. So, this will be a good thing for those customers in the area."

Hymas says notification letters went out to property owners whose backyards may need accessing by contractors, "and any landscapes that are disturbed by the work will be restored back to their original condition afterward."

The nature of the work, Hymas says, means if an outage should occur it may take longer than normal to restore and they ask for patience from customers.

He says this improvement project is one of many planned, or that have already taken place, around the Casper Area that should, in the long run, improve reliability.
