A Riverton man pleaded not guilty to six counts of sexual child abuse during his arraignment in Natrona County District Court on Wednesday.

Danny Ray Capozzoli, who was 63 when arrested in December, entered his plea before District Court Judge Catherine Wilking.

Capozzoli is charged with four counts of second degree sexual abuse of a minor, and two counts of sexual exploitation of a minor, specifically making child pornography.

If convicted, each of the sexual abuse counts carries a penalty of up to 20 years in prison. If convicted, each of the counts of manufacturing of child pornography carries carries a prison term of at least five years and not more than 12 years imprisonment.

Capozzoli remains in custody on a $50,000 bond. One of his bond conditions is to have no contact with the alleged victims, both of whom are under 10.

The case began on Dec. 20 when Natrona County Sheriff’s deputies responded to a call at a residence in the 2700 block of Robertson road, where Capozzoli’s son told them he was helping one of his daughters change a profile picture on a new computer, according to an affidavit filed with circuit court.

The son saw photographs of a bare butt with an adult hand, which he knew was his father’s. The son found a total of 14 nude photos of two of his daughters, according to the affidavit

The next day, a deputy interviewed Capozzoli, who said he had been drinking and knew what he had done.

Forensic interviews were conducted of the children, who said their grandfather had touched them, according to the affidavit.
