The USDA and U.S. Forest Service Officials joined counterparts around the world last week to celebrate the International Year of Forests.

"We've partnered with a lot of other associations, most notably the National Association of State Foresters and with the American Forest Foundation to promote this awareness throughout the year."

Jim Hubbard, of the U.S. Forest Service, says this partnership is sponsoring and holding events all year to celebrate.

"The celebrations are anywhere from the International Forestry Film Festival, in Jackson Hole Wyoming, to community tree planting and a lot of things in between, where local organizations and states have chosen to capitalize on the awareness they can bring to forests and people."
