Tom Hirsig, who was named Friday as the new President and C-E-O of Cheyenne Frontier Days he is very excited about the new job.

Hirsig says when the job first opened up he "did quite a little soul searching"  to see if he was the right person for the job. He says he sees his job as a "team leader" to keep long term visions in place and making sure "we have a clear vision and make sure Cheyenne Frontier Days continues to move forward."

Hirsig says he believes the focus has to be on "the customer experience at Cheyenne Frontier Days." He adds while Cheyenne Frontier Days is in a great financial position moving forward, much of the proceeds will have to be reinvested to address the infrastructure needs at Frontier Park.

Hirsig currently serves as the Wyoming Insurance Commissioner. He will start his new job on January 1, 2015.

A Wyoming native, Hirsig grew up on his family’s cattle ranch north of Cheyenne. He attended the University of Wyoming on a rodeo scholarship, where he qualified for the College National Finals three times, and earned a bachelor’s degree in Agricultural Business. A member of the Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association (PRCA), Hirsig is a three-time Mountain States PRCA Champion Steer Roper. He finished sixth in the world standings in 1987, and was the 1987 Pendleton Round-Up Steer Roping Champion. He won the CFD Steer Roping Championship in 2002.
