Authorities are seeking suspects in the severe beating of a dog after pictures of the animal were posted on social media.

An incident report from the Natrona County Sheriff's Office says an unknown suspect or suspects "cruely [sic] beat" the dog sometime between 1 p.m. and 6:30 p.m. Wednesday.

In a Facebook post, the owner says the dog was inside a fenced yard in the lower Dempsey area on Johnstone Road.

The owner says the dog suffered a fractured skull, broken teeth, a dislocated jaw and a severe concussion. The dog will reportedly need extensive sinus and skull repair.

The dog's jaw will need to be wired shut and she will need to be fed through a tube, according to the owner's post. The dog will be evaluated in Fort Collins.

Owners say the dog is not showing any signs of brain injury and can detect movement out of her left eye.

"Lucky she didn't die, but most likely will have to be put down," an owner writes.

However, owners say the dog has a good chance of survival if they can raise enough money for treatment. Donations can be made to the owners at Casper Animal Medical Center.

Photos of the dog's injuries are too graphic to include in this story. But, if you so choose, you can find them here.
