Although the jury sided with the prosecution in convicting John Knospler Junior of second degree murder, Natrona County District Attorney Mike Blonigen says it is not a cause for celebration.

"You got one man dead, for no good reason, you got another man going to jail, who was a young man, who had done some things for his country, and I think what it kind of underlines is that all of these murders are stupid, but this one takes the cake. I mean there was no reason this had to happen, and it's just a tragedy. Alcohol and firearms don't mix."

He adds that there are lessons to be learned from this instance.

"You can't sit there and be calm and rational and make good choices when you have a loaded gun and a .20 BAC, it doesn't work together. So, we're glad the jury saw it our way, but on the other hand you can't repair all the damage done. James "Kade" Baldwin still isn't going to be home for Christmas."

Defense attorneys and a spokesman for Knospler would not comment to K2 Radio.
