Western and central Wyoming could experience isolated to scattered thunderstorms this afternoon and evening, according to the Riverton office of the National Weather Service.

Stronger storms will produce locally heavy rain and hail, too, the NWS said.

Meanwhile, the environment will become favorable for cold air funnel clouds today as an upper level low pressure system moves through the area.

Cold air funnels rarely reach the ground.

But if they do, they could cause winds similar to a weak tornado.

If you see them, use the same precautions that you would for any funnel cloud or tornado by taking shelter in a sturdy building and away from windows.
