The war on drugs continues, and this week counselors and law enforcement from across Wyoming, are getting together to share notes and ideas, on how to combat the problem.

Wednesday and Thursday, April 23rd and 24th, is the 11th annual Meth and Substance Abuse Conference, at the Best Western Ramkota Hotel in Casper.

The conference addresses issues such as identifying the problem, what law enforcement has to deal with, treatment, and how to avoid relapsing.

Jean Davies with the Wyoming Meth Project, says when the conference first started, it was just addressing methamphetamine only, and then conference organizers realized, that it wasn't the only drug problem.

"There's so many areas that we really need to worry about. prescription drug abuse is a huge problem, across the nation, but here in Wyoming too, and even not prescription drug abuse, but medicine abuse, people abusing Mucinex and other over the counter things, so I think we've stayed on the cutting edge."

The conference is put on by both the Wyoming Meth Project and the Casper Police Department.
