CASPER, Wyo. (AP) — Firefighters and police have rescued a man who jumped into the North Platte River in Casper.

The Associated Press reports that the man jumped off the F Street bridge into the river around 11:30 p.m. Monday. Witnesses said the man remained conscious immediately after the fall. One witness, Samuel Daily, said the man tried to dunk his head back into the water.

Firefighters and police weren't able to reach him and pull him from the water for about 15 to 20 minutes and he lost consciousness during that time.
Authorities performed CPR on the man but haven't said how he is doing.
