Luring More Gas-to-Liquid plants
CHEYENNE, Wyo. (AP) — A proposal endorsed by a legislative committee aims to help entice companies to build gas-to-liquid plants in Wyoming.
The Wyoming Legislature's Joint Minerals, Business and Economic Development Interim Committee voted 13-1 Monday to sponsor a bill that would allow the state to buy natural gas and then contract with a plant to convert it into more expensive products, such as diesel.
Supporters of the idea say rather than putting up money on the front end by assisting with the construction of the plant, this is a less risky and less costly way for the state to provide an incentive for these types of plants to be built.
The bill will be considered next by the 2015 Legislature.
