A suspected bank robber was caught by law enforcement officials, not long after the heist took place.

The Wyoming Highway Patrol reports that troopers were alerted to a bank robbery at the First National Bank on Washington Street in Afton, on Monday afternoon, August 26th.

The robber entered the bank, demanded money and then left with an undisclosed amount of cash in a red Toyota pickup.

A short time later, a trooper spotted the pickup traveling south on US Highway 89 heading towards the Idaho border.

A traffic stop was initiated and 56-year old Donald Sample was taken into custody without incident.

Troopers say the money has been recovered, as well as other evidence linking Sample to the crime.

Charges against Sample are pending.
