Despite all the glitz and glam, all the lights, tinsel and gifts, the holiday season doesn’t bring cheer to the majority of Americans. According to a new survey from Poll Position, only 37 percent of 1,072 adults surveyed answered that the holidays make them happier.

Thirty-eight percent say their mood is no different, 18 actually feel less happy and six percent had no opinion on the question. Perhaps it’s because they get stuck with more extra Christmas-time responsibilities. When it comes down to gender, only 33 percent of woman said the holidays bring them joy, whereas 42 percent of men are in a better mood come December.
