A Casper City Council member who was accused of ethics violations is demanding an investigation into whether other city officials violated ethics laws.

Councilman Craig Hedquist asked the city attorney to investigate the purchase of heavy equipment from a company where City Manager John Patterson's wife works.

The purchase was approved by the council. Patterson has said he didn't initiate the purchase and that it was handled properly.

Hedquist also asked for an investigation into a request by Councilwoman Kenyne Schlager last March for a police check on Hedquist's license plate. Schlager says she dropped the request when told it was improper.

Other council members accused Hedquist last year of using his position to steer business to his construction company. He denied wrongdoing.

On next week's Council agenda, there will be yet another vote on the ethics rule changes that came about as a result of Hedquist's censure.

Councilman Hedquist's request for an investigation is on the agenda as well.
