GREEN RIVER, Wyo. (AP) — Green River has banned the use of bows and arrows within the city.

City councilors gave final approval to the ordinance on Tuesday in a 5-1 vote. One council member abstained from voting because he said he had mixed feelings about the new law.

The Rock Springs Rocket-Miner (http://bit.ly/AmhxCM ) reported that only the city's police chief spoke in favor of banning archery, treating bows and arrows like slingshots and BB guns.

Two residents spoke against it during the hearing, including archery club member Dean Simmons. He said archers would continue to use bow and arrows in the city despite the new law.
