Governor Mead Signs Gender Violence Activism Proclamation
Governor Matt Mead signed a proclamation to recognize the 16 Days of Activism Against Gender Violence, which runs November 25 through-December 10.
The ZONTA Club of Cheyenne partnered with the Silent Witness Initiative and the Laramie County Library to reduce domestic homicide rates. The club selects wooden silhouettes of Wyoming residents who have died as a result of domestic violence. The silouhettes are set up outside the entrance to the library on the first day of the 16 Days of Activism Against Gender Violence. Each one carries the name and story of violence that claimed that person’s life.
Governor Mead said while we have made improvements in regards to domestic violence against women, but we have a long way to go.
