A landscaping and beautification proposal for corners of the Poplar and CY intersection got a thumbs up from Casper City Council last week.

Listen here,

The intersection of CY and Poplar is scheduled for reconstruction by WYDOT next year and along with that will come some beautification.

Casper's Public Service Director, Gary Clough, presented council with the preliminary designs. The idea is to transform two of the corners into pedestrian walk way and mini greenspace.

Designs include lighted pergolas, ornamental trees and grasses. One side would feature a river theme and may also include artist commissioned work.

Cost for the proposal is estimated at around $200,000- not including the artist's commission. The Wyoming Department of Transportation has allocated $150,000 to the project with the rest likely coming out of One Cent funds.
