If you like history and you like people you might also enjoy a volunteer opportunity at the Fort Casper Museum. The museum in Mills has a call out for summer volunteers.

"Coming up on the Spring and Summer we are a lot busier here at the museum with school groups and with visitors coming through and other projects.  Recruiting volunteers to help us with those projects is a pretty important part of what were doing right now."

Erin Rose, Curator for Education at the Museum says they are looking for greeters to be at the front desk and to help with the museum store during the busy summer season. Tour guides are also needed;  someone who would enjoy talking to visitors about the museum and the fort and guiding groups and individuals  through the permanent collection and special exhibitions.   Rose says each volunteer position receives training.

"We'll have them shadow and watch several tours. We'll go over a variety of information whether its background information about the site, how to work with kids, how to bring up different tour topics. And then even at the front desk we give them different training on a variety of things. So, we wouldn't just throw someone out there to the wolves."

Rose says they've also reintroduced an heirloom garden on the museum grounds and are looking for a volunteer interested in working that garden. Contact Erin Rose at the Fort Casper Museum for more information and to volunteer.  235 8462
