Authorities are investigating the cause of a fire that destroyed a house in east Casper early this morning, according to a news release from the Casper Fire-EMS Department.

Fire crews responded to a 3:15 a.m. call about the structure fire at 3055 E. Eighth St.

The unoccupied house was burning so severely that structural parts were beginning to collapse including the first floor.

Crews fought the fire from the outside of the building for safety reasons. They probably will remain on the scene for most of the day to monitor the house.

The structure was vacant. There was a pet pot-bellied pig that appears to have escaped.

The house sustained extensive damage and is a complete loss.

Casper Fire-EMS reminds people that when dealing with any fire, they should get out of the building, stay out, and call 911 immediately. Fire can double in size once a minute, so when it seems small it can soon turn deadly.
