RIVERTON, WYO. (AP) — Court proceedings for a woman accused of killing her newborn son have been delayed for a mental evaluation.

Ardis Sierra Enos of Ethete was charged Tuesday with first-degree murder in the boy's March 26 death minutes after she gave birth to him.

The 20-year-old Enos had been scheduled for detention hearing Friday in lander, but prosecutors and her federal public defender filed a joint motion to postpone the proceedings for an examination.

The motion asks for the delay until a court determines whether Enos is competent to participate in the proceedings.

She is accused of killing the baby and leaving the body in a ditch on her property.

She reportedly told a doctor she had given birth to a stillborn baby.
