It's beginning to look more and more like the dinosaur age at the Casper College Tate Geological Museum.

On Thursday, August 21st, the college dedicated the new "Essence Of Rex" statue.

It's a 15-foot tall, 28-foot long, 5,000 pound bronze statue of a Tyrannosaurus Rex, made by Casper sculptor Chris Navarro.

The idea was proposed and funded by Marialyce Tobin, who donated $200,000 towards the project.

She says she came from Lusk and a dinosaur had been discovered awhile back in that area, so she thought it would be a good idea to have one in Casper.

"I was in Washington a long time ago, and there were a lot of, in the National Historic Museum, there's a lot of dinosaurs from Wyoming, and I thought it was a shame we didn't have one in Wyoming."

The T-Rex statue has about 1,500 LED lights to illuminate the insides of it at night.
