More than 25 tons of hot oil spilled into a creek bed after a rollover crash north of Manville on Tuesday, according to the Wyoming Highway Patrol.

Vincent McGuire, 26, of Wheatland was driving a tractor tanker trailer on Wyoming Highway 270 when it rolled near mile post 105, according to the news release from Patrol Sgt. David Wagener.

The news release did not give details about how the crash happened, nor about the company that owned the truck.

McGuire's passenger was Kendra McGuire, 23, also of Wheatland. Neither of them was wearing a seat belt, and both sustained injuries.

A local rancher helped the occupants out of the truck. The occupants were taken to the Niobrara County Hospital in Lusk by ground ambulance.

Meanwhile, the oil from the tanker flowed down an embankment, through a culvert and into a creek bed. A hazmat team and cleanup crew responded to the scene.

The highway patrol is investigating speed as the contributing factor in the crash. Troopers issued the driver a citation for speeding and two tickets for not wearing seat belts.
