The Natrona County Commission is scheduled to discuss and hold a public hearing on whether it wants to sell some unwanted land at its meeting in the old courthouse at 5:30 p.m. today.

The county has a potential buyer for the land north of Bar Nunn on the east side of Interstate 25.

The potential buyer, B&B Ventures LLC, submitted a bid to buy the property for $3,692.50, which the company claimed is based on the value of nearby properties, County Attorney Bill Knight said.

The county acquired the land 18 years ago by a quit claim deed after the owner failed to pay the property taxes. The parcel is among many unwanted parcels in what Knight called a “binder full of properties.”

However, commission tabled the proposed deal at its its Oct. 7 meeting because Bill McDowell and others questioned B&B's claim of the land's value. McDowell wanted the county assessor to review the values of neighboring lots, which may be significantly higher, he said.

This property will be among other discussions during the commissioners' informal work session at 3 p.m. today. Other presentations will be about a proposed hangar at the Casper-Natrona County International Airport, Homeland Security Grants for the county's emergency management services, the acting director of the Casper office of the U.S. Bureau of Land Management, and the 4-H Club.
