At its regular meeting Tuesday night, Casper City Council authorized the purchase of two new pumper fire trucks to be utilized by the Casper Fire-EMS Department.

The city will purchase both fire trucks from Spartan ERV, a South Dakota-based company, for $899,972.

Casper mayor Kenyne Schlager says both vehicles will help fill a critical need for the city’s fire department.

“I think that one of the great focuses on council is public safety, so it’s important for us to keep up on what our public safety folks needs. So, it was a good thing to pass,” Schlager said.

Council also on Tuesday unanimously passed the second reading of a $3.93 million industrial development revenue bond to be put toward renovations at the Parkway Plaza Hotel in downtown Casper. The bond will be approved if it passes a third reading.
