The Casper Area Convention and Visitors Bureau has hired a new chief executive officer, who will be the fourth head of the agency in about six months.

Brook Kreder, who has been living in Denver, was hired on Monday and will take over on Nov. 1, according to a news release from the CACVB.

"Casper has always felt like home to me, and I'm thrilled at the opportunity to come back in a role that can help drive our community forward," Kreder said in a prepared statement. "I'm excited to collaborate with organizations, individuals and local businesses to attract visitors, increase the tax base and showcase the incredible amenities Casper has to offer."

Kreder returns to Casper with more than 14 years of experience including work as the marketing director for the Casper Star-Tribune and the Norfolk (Neb.) Area Visitors Bureau.

For the past four years, she has been developing her own consulting firm, specializing in guiding small and mid-sized corporate and non-profit clients in strategic planning, innovative marketing and financial growth.

Reeda George, chairwoman of the Natrona County Travel and Tourism Council that oversees the CACVB, said Kreder knows the area and the industry.

Kreder's hire follows the sudden announcement on Friday that recently hired chief executive officer Christine Hill notified the CACVB board that she would be unable to accept the position for personal reasons.

Kreder will be the third CEO the Bureau has hired this year.
Former CEO Aaron McCreight announced his resignation in April to take a similar job in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.
In early May, The CACVB announced it had hired Shawn Buckley for the CEO position. He grew up in Casper and was the executive director of the Sheridan Travel & Tourism Bureau.
But two weeks later, Buckley declared he would not accept the position. The CACVB did not identify why he dropped out.
During the summer, the CACVB's director of sports and events John Giantonio served as the interim chief executive officer.
In late September, Timberline Hospitalities manager Hill accepted the position, but  declined the job on Friday.

The Casper Area Convention and Visitors Bureau is the marketing arm of the Natrona County Travel and Tourism Council, a joint powers board of appointees from the county and city.

Its primary objective is to encourage more and longer visitor stays through marketing programs for conventions, individual tourists and tourists who travel in groups, and special events.

The convention and visitors bureau is supported by a 4 percent lodging tax.
