Last year after the nationwide votes were tallied, Casper’s College National Finals Rodeo was named the “Best Multi-Sport or Multi-Discipline Collegiate Event for 2009” by Sports Travel Magazine.

The announcement came at the Sports Travel Awards luncheon in New Orleans, LA. The award was based on thousands of initial nominations sent in by readers of Sports Travel Magazine. And now once again the CNFR has made the top 6 list for the same award! Casper's ,College National Finals Rodeo is up against the 2010 NCAA Division II National Championships Festival, Louisville, KY,2011 NAIA Swimming & Diving National Championships, St. Peters, MO,2011 NCAA Women's Gymnastics Championships, Cleveland, OH,2011 NCAA Outdoor Track-and-Field Championships, Des Moines, IA and the 2011 NJCAA Indoor Track-and-Field Championships, Lubbock, TX.

As this award is based on the number of votes received it is quite important for CNFR fans to spread the word as many of these other events are in communities with populations numbering many more than the entire state of Wyoming. To vote it is quite easy... go to http://www.sportstravelmagazine.com/ There is a big yellow button on the right side of the page that you click to open the ballot. There are 10 categories. The CNFR is nominated in the Collegiate ‘Best Multi Sport or Multi Discipline Event.’ Once you have selected the CNFR (or if you want to take the time to vote in all of the categories) you enter your name and email address. You will then receive an email asking you to confirm your vote. Click the link and you’re done.

Again, you get one vote per email address so the more people we get the word out to the better. Director of the Casper Area Convention and Visitors Bureau joined us to talk about the award and it's impact on the CNFR and Casper.
