A former Natrona County High School student is dead after being involved in a single vehicle crash in Casper on Tuesday morning May 15th.

The Natrona County School District says Clay Brownell died in the crash.

According to Casper police, shortly after midnight, officers responded to the crash near 15th and David.

Investigators say the vehicle was west-bound on 15th and failed to negotiate the curve in the road, then crashed into a boulder and a tree.

The driver, who was the only person in the car, was tossed from the vehicle and was pronounced dead on the scene.

Police are still investigating, and are awaiting autopsy results for any signs of alcohol and drug use.

Brownell was a member of the 2010 state championship football team at N.C.H.S.
