Cheyenne Mayor Marian Orr took to Twitter on Friday to criticize a Republican state lawmaker for comments the senator allegedly made comparing homosexuality to bestiality and pedophilia.

Wyoming Equality has lodged an informal complaint with the leadership of the Wyoming Senate against Senator Lynn Hutchings [R-Laramie County].

The LGBTQ advocacy group claims Hutchings told members of the Cheyenne Central Gay-Straight  Alliance ''If my sexual orientation was to have sex with all of the men in there and I had sex with all of the women in there and then they brought their children and I had sex with all of them and then brought their dogs in and I had sex with them, should I be protected for my sexual orientation?”

The group says the senator made the comment to a group of around 10 students who were lobbying lawmakers on Feb. 1 for a bill  (House Bill 230) designed to protect LGBTQ people from job and hiring discrimination. Hutchings has so far not publically commented on the allegations. The bill died in the House on Monday when it failed to meet a legislative deadline for action

But Mayor Orr posted the following on her Twitter account on Friday: "Shame on you, Sen Hutchings. We deserve better. Our youth deserve better. Bestiality is equivalent to being gay? Really?

The mayor had testified in favor of House Bill 230 before a legislative committee considering the measure.
