City firefighters are asking Casper residents to assist in upholding the county wide fire ban by keeping an eye on your surroundings and reporting any signs of smoke or fire. Casper Fire Prevention Officer Justin Smith  says there is one exception made to the ban here in Casper.

"The county fire restrictions do apply to the city of Casper however there is one specific exception charcoal grills are allowed to be used within the boundaries of any municipality."

Smith says he can only speak for Casper. Residents of other municipalities, he says, would need to check with their town officials as to whether they will allow for use of charcoal grills.

He also reminds that proper disposal of smoking materials is another small but important step to avoid Casper becoming yet another wild fire news story.
