The primary sponsor of a Wyoming Senate bill that would have banned the sale of guns to anyone on an FBI terrorist watch list says he is withdrawing the measure after learning more about the watch list and how it works.

Sen, James Anderson (R-Natrona County) says when he proposed banning guns sales to people listed on the agency's "no-fly" list he was under the impression that the people on that list had been convicted of crimes and were known criminals or terrorists.

But he says he has since learned that "to be put on the no-fly list you don't have to do anything but be put on it" with no kind of court proceeding or due process of any kind.

He says once he learned how the list really works he realized it was a violation of the Second Amendment and has withdrawn the proposal, which is Senate File 75.
