Wyoming Football Seeks New Assistant Coach After Niemann Leaves
The Wyoming football program is looking for a new linebackers coach after Jay Niemann chose to take a position at the University of Iowa.
Niemann, a native of Iowa, has been hired as an assistant defensive line coach and assistant recruiting coordinator on Kirk Ferentz’s staff. Niemann’s son, Nick, will be a junior this upcoming season with the Hawkeyes, while his older son, Ben, played at Iowa from 2014-2017.
Confirmation of Niemann’s departure came Wednesday night from Scott Dochterman, who covers Iowa football for The Athletic.
Another story chronicling Niemann's exit came from blackheartgoldpants.com Thursday morning.
Wyoming head coach Craig Bohl announced the hiring of Niemann on February 11, so less than three months later, the Cowboys are searching for a new linebackers coach ahead of the 2019 season.
UW concluded spring football practice last Saturday, April 27.
