Wyoming Rescue Mission

With the bitter cold, the Mission wants to remind people that it's serving hot meals and providing safe shelter to those who need it.

The new shelter has seen an increase in people in need, and the numbers are expected to rise as the cold weather sets in.

Donated items can be dropped off anytime at 230 N. Park in Casper.

Gov. Matt Mead will unveil his proposed budget on Dec. 1, and present it to the Joint Appropriations Committee on Dec. 4, he said.

The current building at 230 N. Park St. will be razed after the center is complete. That area will be used for parking and green space,

The new facility will cost Wyoming Rescue Mission about $8 million.

The Wyoming Rescue Mission wants to remind everyone that the work of caring for those in need doesn't stop during an exciting event like Eclipsefest.

It is humbling that 56 anglers are helping to feed and shelter for some of Casper's less fortunate. The 2017 Fishin' for the Mission will easily provide 7000 meals.

Gov. Matt Mead said Thursday the canvass is an important part of the state's 10-year program to identify and address the problems of homelessness.

The 'point-in-time' count is important because it gives a number of homeless rather than guessing the magnitude of the situation.
