The American Foundation for Suicide Prevention lists Wyoming, as of 2016, as 3rd highest in the nation for suicides per state.

Wyoming's suicide rate ranks 4th highest in the nation. Rhianna Brand and the Grace for 2 Brothers organization are working to change that. With support groups, education programs, fundraising, and awareness about mental health issues they are striving to be a light in the darkness.

Suicide prevention has been one of Governor Mead's top priorities, and this will be highlighted at the symposium taking place in Cheyenne on May 9th.

So while the restoration of funding for community-based services is good news, Brand said Wyoming still has a long way to go to adequately address its suicide problem.

Suicide disproportionally affects men, who are about 4 times more likely to take their own lives than women.

Updated: (2/25 @5:31 p.m,) A joint conference committee worked out a deal on the lottery bill.  The compromise calls for cities and towns to receive $6 million of the proceeds each year for 6 years, with the overage going into the common school land trust fund.
