The planned conversion of the Cheyenne HollyFrontier Refinery to renewable diesel production will lead to the loss of about 200 jobs in Cheyenne.

On Sept. 12, the Wyoming Business Council's board of directors did not recommend the $500,000 grant request from the Casper City Council.

The news release did not say why the board of directors turned down the request.

The proposal would include a large field house on a 10-acre site on the former refinery property now known as the Platte River Commons.

"Sulfur dioxide is a rapidly-diffusing reactive gas that is emitted when combusting or process sulfur-containing fossil fuels and ores."

The 30-inch-wide wall will extend from just below ground level to bedrock.

An internal investigation into the cause of the fire has been started, and an outside agency also will look into the fire.
