Though nothing seemed to appear in Casper (believe us- we spent 3 hours looking), the National Weather Service in Riverton as well as a resident of Cody, Wyoming have shared a few photos of Aurora Borealis, otherwise known as the Northern Lights.
The Northern Lights aren't visible over Wyoming very often. This moment was that exception. A photographer captured an absolutely mesmerizing video of this phenomenon and virtually no one has seen it...until now.
Be sure to watch for the northern lights if you are out and about during the late night and early morning hours this week as NOAA has issued a magnetic storm watch.
According to spaceweather.com, a series of CMEs, or coronal mass ejections, hit Earth's magnetic field on June 22nd, producing a severe G4-class geomagnetic storm. Northern Lights spilled across the Canadian border into more than a dozen US states, including places as far south as Colorado, Georgia, Virginia and Arkansas...
Wyoming residents and others across the country might also see the effects of a large solar storm Thursday and Friday. That storm could allow area residents to catch a glimpse of the Northern Lights.
