Gordon's election marks the first time Wyoming's governor's office changes hands without changing parties since Democrat Mike Sullivan's election in 1986.

Mark Gordon won the Aug. 21 Republican primary with 38,952 votes, with Friess coming in second with 29,842 votes.

The Casper Area Chamber of Commerce sponsored the forum with candidates Republican Mark Gordon, Democrat Mary Throne and Rex Rammell of the Constitution Party.

Mary Throne advocated development of all energy resources, while Rex Wilde and Ken Casner leaned more toward developing renewables such as wind and solar power.

Mary Throne says being a Wyoming Democrat means having a different view on guns and we're more tied to the land compared to many other Democrats.

A 10-year representative of District 11, she is an attorney and attended both Princeton and Columbia Law.
