Lovcom wants the Wyoming DCI to show why it will not release records about how the Casper Police Department handled the investigations of Richardson and McMurry.
Lovcom attorney Bruce Moats argued information gleaned from those depositions is in the public interest and would not interfere with the investigation by the DCI.
According to Lovcom, "The residents of Casper have a particular need to know how their police department handled the investigations of these important cases."
The Casper Police Department have turned over the records about the Kristi Richardson and Mick McMurry cases to the Wyoming Division of Criminal Investigation.
Trucking company executive Kristi Richardson was reported missing on Monday, Oct. 7. Businessman and philanthropist Mick McMurry committed suicide on March 10.
