The Hathaway Scholarship program to help eligible Wyoming students pay their college tuition is backed by a $500 million fund that has been growing faster than the amount of money being awarded to students.

The state Senate has given preliminary endorsement to a bill that would add to the requirements for college-bound students applying for the top tiers of the Hathaway Scholarship.
Higher academic standards and help for Wyoming students who don't meet them are part of a proposal under consideration by the University of Wyoming Board of Trustees.
Townhall meetings to discuss the changes are scheduled around the state, with one happening next week in Casper.
