The Lovell Police Department says the body of 49-year-old Carol Jean Barnes, of Cowley, was found Thursday in Lovell.

Officers arrived at the apartment and found blood near the front door, as well as on the door jamb.

Laffin says Barnes was killed in Crouse's Lovell apartment on Thursday, though they did not live together.

Officers were dispatched to the apartment to conduct a welfare check following a call to police by a family member.
