Musk Interviewed Trump From Wyoming
Old-style news interviews seem to be on their way out.
Elon Musk is leading the way as he interviewed former President Donald Trump on X, formally known as Twitter, from a friend's ranch in Jackson, Wyoming.
He did not say who the friend was or where the ranch was. That's probably a smart move.
This was just like listening to talk radio without commercials.
The conversation was casual and lasted two hours.
Trump was not in the room with Musk, but he could have been since Trump had been in Jackson just a few days ago in an event that raised money from rich conservatives.
Elon Musk does not have a home in Jackson, but he has friends who do.
"Legacy media" wish they could have ratings like this. But they never come close.
“Almost all of the legacy media will trash the Trump conversation, thus driving total listeners probably past 200+ million,” Musk wrote.
The ratings for their conversation were massive, far greater than they would have been if the two had appeared on any of the three cable news networks.
“Almost all of legacy media will trash the Trump conversation, thus driving total listeners probably past 200+ million,” Musk wrote.
By the end of the day, the numbers had risen to over 84 million views.
Those numbers are still climbing.
Before Monday’s interview, the European Union sent a warning letter to Musk reminding him of their law against promoting “harmful content.” In a social media post sharing the letter, the E.U. commissioner wrote, “with great audience comes greater responsibility.”
The European Union had filed a lawsuit against X last month for failing to respect their social media laws.
As a radio talk host for many years, I find it interesting to see such a successful talk show with just two guys connecting over nothing more than cell phones. One guy in Wyoming, the other in New York, the world listens. (Glenn Woods).
