There has been a big push for a number of years now for a Constitution Convention that would, hopefully, bring our federal government under control, according to proponents of the convention.

A constitutional convention is a meeting of delegates from the states to create or amend a country's constitution.

The Constitutional Convention of 1787 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, created the United States Constitution.

But, recently, Wyoming Congresswoman Harriet Hageman spoke out against the idea calling it

Too dangerous.

You can watch the video interview below

On Jan. 23rd, 2025, US Representative Harriet Hageman (R-WY) appeared in a video interview with The New American Magazine.

As part of the interview, she was asked her opinion on whether the Wyoming Legislature should apply for a convention for proposing amendments to the federal constitution pursuant to Article V of the US Constitution.

Hageman gave the opinion that this would be unwise for a number of reasons.

"Too dangerous," said the congresswoman.

"Terribly terribly dangerous. I don't think we can control it."

Some worry that a constitutional convention would lead to a new constitution altogether and a reshaping of our American Republic.

"How about we enforce the provision of the constitution that we already have and then we'll talk about what changes need to be made.

The big one they always talk about is a balance budget amendment.

We have the ability to balance our budget.

Even those states that do have a balance budget amendment find a way to circumvent that" said Hageman.

The congresswoman then used the state of California as her example.

Some progress has been made toward a convention of states.
