The Kelly Walsh football team will have a whole new look in 2024 with Randy Roden taking the reins as head coach. He's a widely respected coach and gets the most out of his players. He won 2 a pair of 4A state championships in volleyball for Natrona, 4 state championships as NC's boys' basketball coach, and then 2 more state titles as Kelly Walsh's boys' basketball coach.

Roden has brought on former Trojan football coach Jim Horne to the staff and now it's a matter of getting players to join the team. A shade over 40 sophomore, junior, and senior players will be on the Trojan roster which is a far cry from schools like Natrona and Cheyenne East.

KW will have to replace Kadon Boyce who was the team's leading rusher and leading tackler from 2023. They do return quarterback Carter Alvar who threw for 1251 yards and 6 touchdowns last season. Another returnee on offense is Landon Walker who caught 47 balls for 414 yards and two touchdowns in 2023

Kelly Walsh opens the season on the road on Friday and Campbell County and every team in the state has high hopes before the season starts. We talked with Randy Roden and Landon Walker about the challenges ahead.
