LARAMIE, Wyo. (AP) — The suspect in the death of a University of Wyoming student from Lander is expected to plead guilty to manslaughter next month in exchange for a shorter prison sentence and a term in boot camp.

Under a plea agreement filed May 4 in Albany County District Court Dalton Dale Williams of Casper would plead guilty in exchange for a sentence recommendation of three to five years.

Williams is accused of fatally injuring 21-year-old Joseph McGowan during a fight at an off-campus Halloween party last year

With the plea agreement pending, Williams is currently charged with second-degree murder and manslaughter. Williams could be convicted of one or the other, but not both charges.
