According to reports out of Douglas, Deputy Bryan Gross of the Converse County Sheriff’s office has gone missing in the North Platte River  after responding to an emergency call placed Thursday regarding a young girl who was being swept away in the fast moving Platte River.

The deputy entered the river at the bank near Yellowstone Hwy. at approximately 5 p.m. to assist a civilian who was already in the water attempting to rescue the girl. Some concern was raised after the deputy failed to report in once the girl had been rescued near the West Richards bridge, and a search party was quickly organized to locate him.
